The Position

Behind each product in clinical trials or sold by Roche is the involvement of Pharma Global Technical Operations, a team of more than 10,000 employees worldwide. Within this organization, Pharma Technical Development (PTD) is dedicated to developing new medicines to meet patients' needs through innovation and teamwork. Our specific department, Synthetic Molecules Technical Development (PTDC), brings a broad range of experience across drug substance, drug product, and analytical sciences. We collaborate closely with partners in research and commercial sectors to develop our synthetic molecules pipeline and manufacture supplies for clinical studies.

The Scientist in the Lab is an entry-level position located within the Analytical Development and Quality Control (ADQC) unit. In this role, you will be responsible for developing resource- and cost-efficient analytical methods using state-of-the-art techniques such as HPLC, GC, and mass spectrometry. Your ultimate goal is to establish robust control strategies to release products for clinical trials and commercial supply.

The Opportunity

  • Develop and implement phase-appropriate control strategies for drug substances and drug products.

  • Coordinate all analytical activities, including generating physical and chemical data for materials.

  • Develop, improve, and validate analytical test methods and controls to ensure quality standards.

  • Act as the central project contact for information exchange and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Ensure all work complies with cGMP (where applicable), safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Evaluate new technologies and methods to support innovation projects.

  • Ensure timely delivery and thorough documentation of all analytical results.

Who You Are

  • You hold a Ph.D. in (analytical) chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacy, or a related field.

  • Expertise in key analytical techniques such as HPLC, UPLC, and GC, with a strong interest in analytical development for synthetic molecules.

  • Digital savviness to support transformation initiatives; familiarity with statistical analysis of analytical data is advantageous.

  • Goal-oriented and open-minded, with a strong quality mindset and the ability to work in a fast-developing environment.

  • Excellent command of English (German is a plus) and the ability to collaborate respectfully with team members and stakeholders.
