Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for generating parts sales and customer satisfaction through product knowledge and prompt courteous service. Serves as a source of information and sound advice on Caterpillar and other allied parts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Receives orders by telephone, email and in person from walk-in customers.
2. Initiates calls to customers to solicit parts orders and verify marketing information. Promotes aggressive and suggestive selling by means of product knowledge, personal selling skills, over-the-counter contact, telemarketing and direct mail. Actively seeks additional sales opportunities by contacting all customers on a regular basis, including follow-up calls after large orders.
3. Processes customer orders the same day received, making certain that all documents necessary to the transaction are completed in an accurate manner. Ensures that any customer "call-back" requests are completed to the customer's satisfaction.
4. Prepares Parts Sales Orders, specifying the terms of sale and delivery. Complies with established company credit policies, including Cash on Delivery policies. Assists the Credit Department in the resolution of errors or problems with customer accounts.
5. Handles customer credits accurately and in accordance with Company policy, making sure that all pertinent information is included.
6. Understands and promotes the Parts Exchange System. Promotes additional parts sales and service sales aggressively through the use of suggestive selling techniques including discussion of the various programs offered by G.P.E.C.
7. Makes full use of the variety of information available, including SIS, numerical Parts Record and other reference media.
8. Follows back-orders closely to ensure prompt delivery upon receipt. Notifies customer upon receipt of back-ordered items. Works directly with Caterpillar order analyst to expedite back-ordered parts. Notifies Supervisor of any problems with delays in deliveries.
9. Assists Sales Department in ordering parts and attachments for new engines. Reports engine sales leads and competitive engine activities to the Sales Department. Report potential service calls to Parts and Service Sales Representative for follow-up.
10. Records lost sales opportunities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High school graduate with two years related work experience, including six months of sales and/or mechanical experience.
Candidate should have a basic knowledge of warranties and warranty administration (Parts/New Machine/Engine/Used).

Must be able to sit for extended periods.
Must be able to clearly communicate via the telephone and in person.
Other:
Must be “keyboard” literate to adequately utilize the mainframe system.
