Summary
The Operations Assistant supports the Cape May County Campus BizHub Director by providing hands-on administrative and technical support to increase awareness of the program and resources available to entrepreneurs or future entrepreneurs.
Examples of duties
- Create, schedule, and manage content for Cape May County bizHub's social media platforms (Facebook and other channels) and assist with website updates to promote programs, events, and resources.
- Attend and staff tabling, networking, and community outreach events to represent the bizHub and engage prospective clients.
- Proactively reach out to new and existing local small businesses—via phone, email, and in-person visits—to raise awareness of bizHub services and encourage participation.
- Answer incoming phone calls and respond to basic inquiries from potential clients, providing information about programs and services and directing more complex questions as needed.
- Schedule client consultations, training sessions, and follow-up appointments; maintain accurate calendars, and coordinate logistics.
- Support the maintenance of accurate client records and help ensure confidential data is handled appropriately.
- Assist with collecting and compiling basic program and participant data for internal reporting.
- Help develop and distribute promotional materials and messaging in collaboration with the Director and, when appropriate, the College's Marketing and College Relations Department.
- Following training on the equipment; assist in the operation of the bizHub's maker space to include 3D Printers, Vinyl CNC cutters, Laser Engravers, and embroidery machines to support local businesses.
- Build and nurture relationships with local businesses, chambers of commerce, libraries, economic development partners, and other community stakeholders through regular outreach.
- Represent the CMC bizHub at internal and external events as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned to support the overall mission and operations of the bizHub.
Qualifications
Education:
Experience:
- Sales and public outreach experience
- Social media, community outreach, and public speaking experience
- 1-2 years of experience that demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities in a business environment
Competencies and Skills:
- Proficient with Google Workplace or Microsoft 365
- Experience with social media content creation and management
- Ability to lift 50 lbs for tabling events
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in small business, economic development, community outreach, or nonprofit/program coordination preferred.
- Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively under the direction of the Director.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local outreach and events.
Supplemental information
Terms of Employment:
This position may require scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape campus and other locations related to delivering the program objectives.
