Summary

Supervises the Gainesville Civic Center and/or Fair Street Neighborhood Center during events on weeknights after 5:00 PM and weekend events.

Examples of duties

Supervises use of the facility from the front reception desk during events in the building. Responsible for keeping all areas securely locked, except for areas in use. Be observant, walk through the area being used, watch for problems and assist with requests from patrons.

Ability to deal effectively with patrons, associates and the general public.

Be observant of visitors to the building and assist anyone who is out of place or needs direction. Keep visitors out of areas not in use or escort them through the facility.

Secure meeting areas and remove expensive equipment after events have concluded.

Prior to events check all restrooms and be sure they are clean, stocked with paper goods, soap and other necessary items. Empty all trash cans.

After events, clean off all tables of glasses, food and alcoholic containers and empty all trash from the building (when a night clean-up supervisor is not coming in). Be sure all lights are off in the building, check all doors and make sure they are locked before you leave the premises.

Ability to respond to emergency situations (accidents, fire alarms and fire control system, 911, building operation, etc.).

Be able to assist customers prior to their event with minor set-up changes.

Other duties as required.

HOURS:

Dependent upon Civic Center Event Schedule. There would be no less than 2 nights per weeknight and/or weekend for an average between 10 to 12 hours per week.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

No experience required.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Class C Driver’s License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to read and write.

Knowledge of building and security system.

Ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
