Coordinates activities of the MLT department student laboratory to assist faculty in teaching laboratory skills and exercises.

Examples of duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepares and cleans up student laboratory exercises
  • Reagent and supply inventory
  • Supervision of students performing laboratory procedures
  • Assist with demonstration and performance evaluation of students while in the student laboratory
  • Instrumentation maintenance, calibration, and quality control
  • Maintain professional certification
  • Ensure safety compliance and contribute to providing a safe working environment within the student laboratory
  • Contribute to student laboratory development

This position requires strong interpersonal skills in communication with students to include competency evaluation, skills evaluation, demonstration of new procedures,

Qualifications

Minimum Required:

  • Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a regionally accredited institution
  • Current Nationally recognized generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in a clinical laboratory setting

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Science from a regionally accredited institution
  • Nationally recognized generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • ASCP generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Scientist
