Job Description

Southwest Virginia Community College located in Richlands, Virginia, is seeking a Fitness Center Attendant for the Southwest Fitness Center. This position will report to the Events Coordinator.
The Fitness Attendant is responsible for monitoring fitness areas and maintaining the weights and cardiovascular fitness equipment to make sure areas and machines are kept clean. The Attendant also interacts with and provides excellent customer service to our members, guests, and prospective members at the front desk.

Front desk duties include greeting members, answering phones, confirming membership status upon entry and providing facility tours. The Fitness Attendant will also participate in various fitness center activities if/when needed.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.


KSA's/Required Qualifications
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

• Willingness to work nights and weekends

• Knowledge of fitness facility operations
and fitness equipment

• Use of computer and Microsoft Office Suite

• Must be able to work under challenging physical conditions

• Must be able to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs per OSHA standard
