Position SummaryThe Dining Server is responsible for providing courteous, prompt, and professional table service to residents and guests in an Assisted Living/Independent Living dining environment. This role supports an exceptional dining experience through teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to food safety and hospitality standards.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Provide full-service dining during scheduled meal periods, including greeting residents and guests, offering beverages, taking menu orders, communicating with kitchen staff, delivering meals, and responding to dining needs in a timely manner.
- Set, clear, and clean dining room tables following established procedures and food safety standards to prevent cross-contamination.
- Prepare and stock condiments and accompaniments for daily specials, including dine-in and to-go service, prior to meal service.
- Perform dishwashing and general cleaning duties as assigned.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, infection control, and universal precaution policies at all times.
- Maintain a clean, welcoming, and pleasant dining environment for residents, guests, and staff.
- Assist with upkeep of wait staff service areas and complete additional tasks as assigned by the Dining Room Manager, Chef, Dining Services Director, or Lead Server.
- Dispose of food waste and trash in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Accurately document food and equipment temperatures as required.
- Properly label, date, and store food items.
- Maintain professional appearance, personal hygiene standards, and compliance with department dress code.
- Attend required in-service training and education sessions.
QualificationsQualifications- No prior serving experience required; on-the-job training provided. Prior food service experience is preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to explain menu items, answer questions, and coordinate meal service.
- Ability to interact respectfully and compassionately with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
- Must obtain a Food Handler’s Card; if 18 years or older, must also obtain an OLCC card.
- Ability to work efficiently while meeting resident needs, dining standards, and assigned schedules.
- Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly population and commitment to quality service.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Exposure to infectious waste and communicable diseases (including HBV and HIV).
- Exposure to hot kitchen areas and cold storage/freezer environments.
- Regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or move up to 50 pounds.
- Variable work pace depending on resident dining needs.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or alternate shifts.
- Exposure to slippery floors, kitchen equipment, sharp objects, chemicals, and food odors.
