Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Psychologist - PhD Senior $71.482 to $87.204

Travel Required: No

Reporting to the Manager, the Psychologist - PhD - Senior, will provide pediatric psychology services to children and youth referred through Pediatric Inpatient and Outpatient services at JPCH and the Department of Psychiatry. The Psychologist - PhD - Senior will also support other areas of Child and Youth Mental Health and Addiction Services as required. Clinical services will include psychological assessment and treatment to address the psychological aspects of acute and chronic illness, injury, and promotion of healthy behaviors in children, youth, and their families. The Psychologist - PhD - Senior will be responsible for monitoring psychological testing equipment and therapy supplies and advising the Manager when additional resources are required to support the provision of psychological services in this milieu. The Psychologist - PhD - Senior will also provide clinical supervision to clinical psychology practicum students, clinical psychology residents, and provisionally registered psychologists.

Experience

  • 2 years exp providing assessments and therapy for infants, children & families
  • Experience with neuropsychological assessment

Education

  • PhD in Clinical Psychology

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • PhD Internship Training from a CPA accredited (or equivalent) residency required

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge in psychological assessments/testing with complex children and youth
  • Ability to deliver programs w/in a holistic and culturally appropriate framework
  • Experience in planning and assessment of policies and procedures
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary and community partnership program
  • Ability to provide psychological consultations to the team, community, & schools
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy
  • Knowledge in differential diagnoses to support treatment of children and youth
  • Knowledge of the DSM-5
  • Ability to work effectively with community-based organizations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effective, evidenced-based treatment plans.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies
  • Exp in providing psych services to children within an inpatient acute setting
  • Ability to work in a high stress, fast paced work environment with complex cases
  • Knowledge of trauma informed practice
  • Provide clinical supervision amongst the team to ensure safe care
