Under the direction of a Program Manager and as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Psychologist PhD Sr. provides a complex range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case coordination services to a primarily adult community mental health and addiction population. The incumbent provides program consultation and co-ordination, evaluation of clinical interventions, formal supervisory (clinical/ professional and/or administrative) relationship with other employees, preceptor students in formal clinical practicum, and provides professional and public education regarding mental health and addiction issues and resources. As a senior practitioner, acts as a resource for other professionals for mental health and addiction in the community.

Education

  • PhD in Clinical Psychology

Experience

  • Three years (post-doctorate) recognized experience in working within community mental health and addiction services.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of a variety of mental health disorders and addiction and harm reduction strategies required to enable clients to sustain stability.
  • Knowledge of and ability to select, administer, and interpret a comprehensive range of psychological tests; ability to utilize computerized assessment and interpretation software packages.
  • Broad knowledge of community resources including treatment programs and support agencies is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience working with mental health and addiction community outreach and competence in delivering mental health and addiction crisis interventions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of intervention strategies (individual and group) for individuals with mental health and addiction problems in a community based setting, including, but not limited to: assessment, diagnosis, triage, treatment, case management.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty across a wide range of clinical presentation and formulate evidence based intervention.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency skills.
  • Knowledge of Recovery philosophy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-motivated manner, ability to respond under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, workload management, staff development and skills related to resource coordination.
  • Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act.
  • Excellent consultation and public relation skills with the ability to maintain effective work relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal competence including effective problem solving; and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to prepare reports in a clear concise and timely manner. Ability to provide public presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to enter and retrieve data in a computer database system.

Other Information

  • Must have a current practicing registration with Sask. College of Psychologists as a Doctoral Psychologist with an Authorized Practice Endorsement.
  • Must have a valid driver's license. Some assignments may require access to a vehicle for work.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours; including an ability to work day, evening and weekend shifts based on operational needs.
