Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant or Associate Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. The selected candidate will also serve as the Clinical Director/Psychologist, Perinatal Psychosocial in the Center for Fetal Diagnoses and Treatment. Expertise is required in the specific area of the provision of maternal mental health, perinatal psychology and consultation-liaison psychology services, as well as evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention for families facing complex fetal diagnoses and high-risk pregnancies. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and must be licensed or eligible for license, as a Psychologist in the State of Pennsylvania. Full Pennsylvania licensed is required prior to appointment. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience leading multidisplinary psychosocial programs, providing supervision and mentorship to psychologists and trainees, collaborating with physicians, nurses, social workers, and advances practice providers, and developing innovative models of integrated behavioral healthcare. Experience with program development, quality improvement, and academic scholarship is preferred.
Teaching responsibilities may include high-quality clinical education, supervision, and mentorship to psychology interns, postdoctoral fellows, psychiatry residents, medical students, fellows, and other interdisciplinary trainees from the Perelman School of Medicine. The successful candidate will contribute to the educational mission through didactic teaching, clinical supervision, and mentorship while fostering excellence in integrated behavioral health.
Clinical responsibilities may include serving as the Clinical Director of Psychology and Psychosocial Program Manager for the Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive psychological assessment, consultation, and evidence-based interventions to expectant parents and families experiencing complex fetal diagnoses, fetal interventions, pregnancy loss, and neonatal transitions. Responsibilities include collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of maternal-fetal medicine specialists, pediatric surgeons, nurses, social workers, genetic counselors, and other behavioral health professionals to ensure integrated, family-centered care. The psychologist will oversee psychosocial services within the Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment (CFDT), supervise psychology staff and trainees, support program development, and participate in quality improvement initiatives to advance psychosocial care across the continuum of fetal therapy.
The CFDT at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is an internationally recognized leader in fetal diagnosis, fetal therapy, and multidisciplinary family-centered care. The Clinical Director of Psychology serves as the leader of the Center's psychosocial program, partnering closely with clinical and administrative leadership to ensure the delivery of exceptional behavioral health services for patients and families facing highly complex pregnancies. The psychologist will be a member of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DCAPBS) at CHOP. DCAPBS offers specialized care for individuals and families facing emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. The department emphasizes that mental health is health, and aims to provide appropriate diagnoses and personalized treatment.
