Job Description

The Legacy mission of making life better for others includes the whole person. Our psychologists focus on the mental, emotional and behavioral health of a variety of patients. For some, this is their primary reason for seeking medical attention; for others, a contributing factor has weakened their psychological state. No matter the circumstances, their cases must be viewed with professionalism and compassion. Are you committed to improving the psychological well-being of patients and giving them the best possible chance for strong mental health? If so, we invite you to consider joining the Legacy community.

Responsibilities

The Psychologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats emotional, cognitive, and behavioral problems or disorders affecting child, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patients (depending upon population served by specific position). Services are provided for patients whose psychological disturbance is the primary problem as well as for patients whose psychological disturbance is secondary to or adversely affecting the management of a primary medical problem. Such patients are typically referred by their primary care provider based upon diagnoses for which the provider feels psychological treatment will improve primary medical problems. Participates as a member of the treatment team by providing guidance to other members of the team regarding management of patients’ emotional, behavioral, cognitive and family-systems problems, while following established departmental, program and professional standards. Performs psychological assessment and testing as needed to diagnose and plan treatment, and to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment.
