Reporting to Clinic Director, the incumbent provides direct mental health support to clients of the McGill Psychoeducational & Counselling Clinic contributing to its’ mission of offering early and accessible client care, providing comprehensive graduate student clinical training, and fostering community mental health awareness. The incumbent delivers evidence-informed assessment and/or counselling interventions tailored to the needs of a variety of clients, ensuring timely and effective support. In addition to assessment and/or counselling, the role involves supervising training psychologists, pursuing outreach initiatives that promote the Clinic across the campus and the local community, and assisting the directors (i.e., clinical and academic) within Educational & Counselling Psychology in ensuring that the graduate degree programs, as well as the practicums and internships of students are consistent with OPQ/CPA standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers and interprets standardized assessments with children and adolescents; Produces integrated reports consistent with OPQ/CPA standards and collaboratively creates intervention plans with Clinic clients.
  • Carries a caseload from the Clinic waiting list; Provides individual therapy or counselling within a collaborative care framework; Maintains timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) consistent with OPQ/CPA standards.
  • Provides supervision to graduate trainees; Contributes to case conferences and trainee evaluations.
  • Participates in outreach activities appropriate to the Clinic’s mandate and goals; Helps to establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to ensure coordination of mental health supports and referral pathways.
  • Provides expertise to the Clinic Director in developing and implementing a research protocol for obtaining feedback from clients about their satisfaction with Clinic services, as well as their response to key elements of the brief interventions being provided.
  • Participates with the Clinic Director and Director of Clinical Training in ensuring that the practicum and residency sites are providing training consistent with OPQ/CPA standards and that clinical hours of students are being monitored and recorded accurately.
  • Works on special projects (e.g., planning and delivering workshops/symposiums), as assigned.

Other Qualifying Skills and Abilities:

  • Provincially registered psychologist in good standing (minimum two years licensed) with a doctorate in Psychology (PhD/PsyD).
  • Demonstrated experience in standardized assessment with children/teens OR demonstrated experience in counselling/psychotherapy with adults.
  • Experience supervising psychology trainees (or strong potential).
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; adaptability and practical problem‑solving strengths.
  • Commitment to ethical, client‑centered, and culturally responsive care.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) and experience with diverse populations.

Additional Information:

  • This is a 1-year contract
  • The role requires the incumbent to be on-site 4 days a week.
