The Office of Juvenile Justice is seeking a highly skilled and mission-driven Psychologist 4 to lead specialized treatment services for youth in secure care. This clinical leadership role is ideal for a psychologist who excels in assessment, treatment planning, program development, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

As a Psychologist 4, you will guide therapeutic staff, oversee evidence-based treatment programs, interpret psychological evaluations, and ensure high-quality clinical services across the facility. You will also provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy; lead the multidisciplinary treatment team; and support program evaluation and quality assurance efforts. This position plays a critical role in shaping treatment outcomes, strengthening staff capability, and supporting youth rehabilitation through expert clinical direction.

Examples of duties

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice psychology followed by two years of experience in psychological research, testing, or counseling.

Supplemental information

Job Duties:

  • Leads specialized treatment programs — Directs sexual offense treatment, designs interventions, and guides multidisciplinary staff.

  • Oversees therapeutic service quality — Observes sessions, reviews documentation, evaluates staff performance, and updates treatment plans.

  • Conducts psychological evaluations — Interprets personality, cognitive, neurocognitive, and adaptive assessments to inform treatment.

  • Provides psychotherapy — Delivers individual, group, family, and specialized therapy based on treatment needs.

  • Chairs multidisciplinary teams — Leads treatment team meetings, disciplinary committees, and in-service training.

  • Develops behavior systems — Creates incentive and consequence programs tailored for youth with ID/SMI.

  • Oversees research & evaluation — Reviews treatment data, guides research design, and ensures compliance with ethical standards.
