University Health Physicians (UHP) is the physician group practice for the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC) in conjunction with its major teaching facility. UMKC supports several residencies and many of our physicians have teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students. UHP is also the primary physician group for Truman Medical Centers/University Health in Kansas City, MO. known as “Kansas City’s Essential Hospital,” it is the safety net healthcare system for Jackson County/Kansas City, MO. University Health Physicians and University Health is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join our medical staff and to provide psychiatric services mainly at our TMC BHAC (inpatient psychiatric unit).
This position is a full-time attending psychiatrist who will lead a multi-disciplinary team that includes psychiatry residents, medical students, psychologists, nurses, recreational therapists and medical social workers. Other duties may include providing occasional supplemental coverage on TMC BHAC and/or TMC Consultation Liaison Service (CL) when staff is on vacation, as they will provide coverage during this position’s PTO. There also may be opportunity to act as primary collaborating physician with one or more of our psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMNHP/APRN) and receive an additional stipend. If desired, there may be the opportunity to rotate as primary TMC CL attending for that teaching service, and to provide care at NKC BHAC in more of a hospitalist/non-teaching role.
The hire would be expected to participate in our call system, which is approximately about 1 weekend per month, 2 out of every three months for additional pay.
Participation in hospital-based committees and providing lectures to other medical specialties is encouraged.
The qualified candidate will have graduated from an accredited medical school, completing a residency in psychiatry.
