Youth Act Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Position Summary:
The Behavioral Health Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (BH Psychiatric NP) provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing treatment for individuals receiving outpatient behavioral health and Youth Assertive Community Treatment (Youth ACT) services. As part of a multidisciplinary team, this role delivers integrated, recovery-oriented care and collaborates with providers, families, schools, and community partners to support individuals with complex behavioral health needs across clinic and community settings.
Youth Act Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Job Responsibilities:
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, medication management, and ongoing treatment for children, adolescents, and adults, including prescribing psychotropic medications and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) when appropriate.
• Develop and monitor individualized treatment plans, review diagnostic findings, provide client and family education, and coordinate care to support positive clinical outcomes.
• Assess and manage psychiatric crises, including suicide risk assessments, safety planning, crisis stabilization, and rapid follow-up in accordance with Zero Suicide protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, Youth ACT staff, primary care providers, families, schools, and community partners to coordinate integrated, recovery-oriented care across clinic and community settings.
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with OMH, OASAS, Medicaid, regulatory, payer, and organizational standards while participating in quality improvement and utilization management activities.
• Maintain productivity, licensure, certification, and professional development requirements; participate in staff meetings, respond to emergencies, report untoward incidents, and perform other duties as assigned.
Youth Act Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Qualifications:
• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program with current New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure.
• Current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification and DEA registration required.
• Experience providing psychiatric services in outpatient and/or community-based behavioral health settings, with children, adolescents, adults, and families with complex mental health and substance use disorders preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, medication management, and treatment planning skills, with knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care principles.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and manage competing priorities.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation, with a commitment to culturally responsive, person-centered care.

Salary: $150,000 Annually
