Qualifications

We are seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our community mental health team in Salem, Oregon This part-time position (.50–.75 FTE) offers flexibility, a supportive team environment, and the opportunity to provide meaningful psychiatric care to children and adults in a community-based setting.

This role is well-suited for clinicians looking to balance clinical work with other professional or personal commitments while remaining deeply engaged in mission-driven care.

General Description

The PMHNP provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and limited psychotherapy services for clients receiving community mental health services. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the PMHNP supports individuals and families in addressing mental health, substance use, and related social needs through trauma-informed and collaborative care.

Primary responsibilities include initial and ongoing psychiatric assessments, medication management, treatment planning, and clinical consultation with therapists and QMHPs.

Minimum

Qualifications

  • Licensed or license-eligible Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the State of Oregon
  • Prescriptive authority and active DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
  • Eligible for credentialing with Medicaid and other payers
  • Strong clinical judgment, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with therapists, QMHPs, and medical staff
  • Commitment to respectful, inclusive, and unbiased care
  • Ability to pass required background checks and/or fingerprinting

Preferred

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of PMHNP or psychiatric nursing experience (new graduates considered)
  • Experience in community mental health or integrated care settings
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial and follow-up psychiatric evaluations
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications
  • Develop and review treatment plans collaboratively with the care team
  • Provide psychiatric consultation to therapists and QMHPs
  • Review and approve annual service plans for medical necessity
  • Coordinate care with primary care providers and external partners
  • Provide crisis intervention services as clinically indicated
  • Participate in shared, team-supported call rotation
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
  • Participate in team meetings and quality improvement activities
  • Support harm-reduction approaches related to substance use
