Job Description

and Responsibilities

The provider is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with behavioral health disorders in an outpatient setting including in-person and telehealth.

of Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and evaluate patient data and tests or examination findings to diagnose the nature and extent of behavioral health disorders.
  • Prescribe, direct, and administer medications to treat behavioral health, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
  • Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests on patients to provide information on general physical conditions and behavioral health disorders.
  • Advise and inform guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients' conditions and treatment, as needed.
  • Design individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments.
  • Collaborate with other HCCH professionals (therapists, psychologists, case managers, and primary care team) to discuss individual patient treatment plans and progress.
  • Maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives, and other professionals.
  • Serve on committees to promote and maintain community behavioral health services and delivery systems.
  • Builds a positive work environment by working cooperatively within the department and with other areas through teamwork, interpersonal skills, and personal improvement/initiative.

Requirements

of Primary Attributes:

  • Outstanding communication skills with behavioral health staff and members of the community.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of modern psychiatric medicine.
  • General knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to Community Health Centers.
  • Experience with Telehealth

Professional Knowledge and Technical Skills:

  • Medical degree from an accredited University or appropriate training as a PMHNP
  • Board Certified/ Board Eligible Behavioral Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Currently licensed (or license-eligible) to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina.

Other Details:

  • Providers may choose to work from any of our primary care clinics and provide telehealth services (audio, video) to patients seen at other HCCH clinic locations, however, a primary location may be required and noted within the Employment Agreement.
  • HCCH clinics participate in the National Health Service Corps
  • Our clinics are located in the mountains of western North Carolina. All of our clinics are within two hours of Charlotte and minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway. This area offers ample opportunities for snow skiing and snowboarding, hiking, biking, fishing, and kayaking.
  • Monday-Friday work schedule unless asked to participate in the On-Call Schedule.
