Position Summary
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing treatment for individuals receiving outpatient mental health services at monarc, LLC. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming psychiatric care across the lifespan, including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and co-occurring mental health conditions.
The PMHNP functions as an independent clinician within their scope of practice and collaborates closely with therapists and the interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure coordinated, person-centered care.
This is a clinical role with no supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment & Treatment
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and mental health screenings.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans aligned with best-practice standards and person-centered goals.
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with federal and Maryland regulations.
Monitor therapeutic response, medication efficacy, and side effects; adjust treatment as clinically indicated.
Provide ongoing psychiatric follow-up and care coordination.
Person-Centered & Inclusive Care
Deliver care that is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and inclusive of individuals with IDD and neurodiverse profiles.
Incorporate family members, caregivers, and supports into treatment planning when appropriate and consented.
Support informed decision-making and self-determination for people receiving services.
Collaboration & Quality Care
Collaborate with licensed therapists and other members of the clinical care team to support integrated treatment.
Participate in peer review, clinical consultation, and quality assurance activities as required.
Stay current with emerging best practices in psychiatric care, particularly for individuals with IDD and co-occurring conditions.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
Adhere to HIPAA, Medicaid, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
Adhere to all mandatory reporting requirements for the State of Maryland
Participate in peer review and quality assurance activities.
Follow monarc policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
Professional Development
Maintain required licensure, certifications, and continuing education.
Maintains the highest degree of professional and ethical conduct.
Engage in ongoing learning related to psychiatric care, neurodiversity, trauma-informed practice, and inclusive mental health.
QualificationsQualifications
Required
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with the Maryland Board of Nursing
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a psychiatric-mental health specialization
Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
Valid DEA registration
Valid Maryland CDS registration
Active CPR/First Aid Training
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills

Pay Range: $130,000.000-180,000.00
This position is based on site in Belcamp/Aberdeen Maryland (Monday through Friday). It is not a remote eligible position and relocation assistance will not be offered.
