The Department
Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne. AMAH services comprise five programs:
These teams located at the Alfred Hospital (Commercial Road, Prahran) and at 549 St. Kilda Road, 607 St Kilda Rd, Alma Road CCU in St. Kilda, PARC at Nicholson Street Prahran, Aged Mental Health service at Caulfield Hospital and the Child & Youth Service is located in Moorabbin and headspace service in various locations in Victoria. Alfred Mental & Addiction Health also works in partnership with relevant local non-government and social support agencies.
The Role
The position is based at Alfred Mental & Addiction Health, and is located within the Ground Floor Inpatient Unit. The position is available to an experienced and patient-centred Enrolled Nurse to work within the acute adult inpatient unit. You will have a comprehensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation, relevant knowledge and demonstrated skills in risk assessment, mental state assessment, care planning and knowledge of mental health nursing. You will have well developed interpersonal skills to effectively partner with pateints in their recovery. The Alfred Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit provides study days, clinical supervision and a supportive and friendly team environment to develop your skills. A clinical educator is available to support you to develop Mental Health Nursing knowledge and skills.
The Enrolled Nurse will provide direct patient care whilst working under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. At all times the Enrolled Nurse will retain responsibility for his/her actions and remain accountable to the Registered Nurse for all delegated functions. The position requires a high performer who is customer focused, a team player, and is motivated and enthusiastic.
The position involves a rotating shift work roster.
