PSV Engineer Responsibilities
As a PSV Mechanic / Skilled PCV Engineer at Arriva Telford, you’ll play a key role in maintaining vehicle safety, reliability, and performance across our passenger transport fleet.
Your duties will include:
- Servicing, maintenance, and repair of PSV vehicles
- Mechanical and electrical fault finding and diagnostics
- MOT preparation and preventative maintenance inspections
- Vehicle safety inspections and quality control checks
- Roadside breakdown response and reactive repairs
- Using modern diagnostic equipment and workshop technology
- Working collaboratively within a skilled engineering team
- Shift work including earlies, lates, and weekends (5 days out of 7)
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this PSV Mechanic / PCV Engineer role, you should have:
- Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in PSV, HGV, automotive or vehicle engineering
- Experience as a PSV Mechanic, HGV Technician, Bus Engineer, or Vehicle Technician
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of vehicle safety and maintenance procedures
- Ability to work independently and follow engineering standards
- Electrical systems knowledge (desirable but not essential)
- PCV licence preferred — training can be provided
- IRTEC accreditation welcomed
