Job Description

Compensation Range:

$48,722.98 - $77,291.46

Hiring Compensation Range: $48,722.98 to $53,595.27 depending on qualifications.

Instruction and classroom responsibilities

  • Provides instruction for the Welding program, including classroom and hands-on lab instruction as reasonably requested by the college.

  • Ensure students adhere to safety protocols and procedures when handling equipment and tools.

  • Prepares daily lab activities and any other scheduled instructional activities, ensuring the workspace is clean, safe, stocked and free of broken or unusable equipment.

  • Takes attendance and maintains student records for this non-credit program.

  • Grades assignments and lab work.

  • Prepares and administers exams, appropriate to course content, including the comprehensive final exam.

  • Evaluates student performance through assessments, projects, simulations and practicums. Provides student feedback and handles student disciplinary action escalating when needed.

  • Advise students on academic progress, employability skills, internship and employment opportunities. Collaborating with outside agencies and employers for potential job placement.

  • Stays abreast of industry standards and changes in technology, maintaining technical certifications/licensures necessary for the position.

  • Assists with recruiting, marketing, and outreach for departmental programs, actively participates in college functions, events, and engages in community service

  • Teaches foundational math principles and later provide instruction on blueprints, symbols and other program-specific concepts.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Performs administrative tasks such as printing worksheets, tracking attendance, and preparing instructional materials.

  • Supports college’s strategic initiatives for student success, retention, completion, placement and continuous improvement for accreditation, including participating in program planning, accreditation reviews, and institutional effectiveness initiatives.

  • Enters grades into the computer system and any other reporting as reasonably needed.

  • Creates/Revises Syllabus and course schedules as needed.

  • Manages deliveries, restocks materials and cuts materials in preparation for student use as needed. Oversees material handling and ensures efficient use of supplies with minimal waste.

  • As part of inventory, provides a list of supplies, tools and materials that need to be ordered.

  • Oversees shop/lab cleanliness and ensures ongoing maintenance.

  • Handles aluminum fabrication tasks as part of program instruction.

Physical Requirements

This position requires continuous walking, frequent standing, bending, squatting and kneeling. Frequent reaching and pulling. Exposure to extreme heat.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of related work experience. Work experience may substitute for educations.

  • AWS Certified Welding Educator (CWE)

  • Preferred qualifications

  • OSHA 30 General Industry Certification

  • CWI Welding Certificate

  • ASE Welding Certificate

  • For Advanced Welding (Pipe Welding)- requires certification in Structural & Pipe Welding and Forklift Certification

  • AWS Certified Welder (CW) – in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW at a minimum of 3G
