1. Safety:Consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.

2. Performance and Delivery

Effective Tactical Response and Security Operations

• Patrol, protect, and secure personnel, assets, infrastructure, and operational areas within the assigned area of responsibility.

• Execute tactical response activities, security operations, Counter Industrial Action (CIA) procedures, and emergency response drills in accordance with approved standards and protocols.

• Support investigations into criminal activities, security incidents, breaches of procedures, and other transgressions.

• Provide security support during high-risk situations, including industrial action, emergencies, VIP protection, and special operations.

• Maintain continuous liaison with the Security Team Leader Tactical Response Team regarding operational activities, incidents, risks, and required interventions.

• Liaise effectively with internal security specialists, SAPS, and other relevant stakeholders.

• Identify security risks, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for improvement, and implement appropriate corrective actions.

• Ensure compliance with applicable security legislation, standards, codes of practice, procedures, and company policies.

• Act as a witness in criminal, disciplinary, CCMA, or other legal proceedings when required.

• Perform standby duties, overtime, and other specialised tactical functions as operationally required.

Equipment, Resources and Operational Readiness

• Control the issuing, receiving, registration, storage, and accountability of firearms, security equipment, vehicles, and specialised tactical assets.

• Ensure all equipment, materials, and resources are available, serviceable, and operationally ready before deployment.

• Conduct routine inspections, audits, inventory counts, and stock checks to maintain equipment integrity and availability.

• Operate and monitor security systems and monitoring equipment to ensure optimal performance and effectiveness.

• Drive security vehicles safely and responsibly in support of tactical response operations.

Reporting, Administration and Information Management

• Compile, maintain, and submit accurate incident, investigation, audit, operational, and ad hoc management reports.

• Ensure the accurate administration of security systems, security codes, records, labour data, and operational documentation.

• Maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and security of investigation and operational information.

• Ensure all reports, records, and documentation are completed and submitted in accordance with prescribed standards and timelines.

• Document and report disciplinary actions, incidents, observations, and operational findings as required.

Safety, Risk and Compliance

• Maintain compliance with all safety, health, environmental, legal, and security requirements applicable to the role.

• Identify, report, and address hazards, risks, injuries, incidents, and unsafe conditions.

• Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, audits, inspections, and emergency response activities.

• Ensure all security activities are conducted safely, legally, professionally, and in accordance with approved procedures.

Working Relationships and Team Effectiveness

• Foster effective communication, cooperation, and positive working relationships with team members, stakeholders, clients, and external agencies.

• Support employee induction, training, coaching, and development initiatives.

• Ensure employees receive clear work instructions, task allocations, and operational guidance.

• Promote teamwork, mutual respect, discipline, diversity, and a safe and productive work environment.

• Identify and escalate employee relations concerns, grievances, conflicts, and disciplinary matters to the appropriate level.

• Support HR, employee engagement, and organisational initiatives as required.

• Gather, share, and communicate relevant operational information to support effective decision-making and security performance.

Security Systems and Operational Support

• Support the effective administration and operation of security systems, access control measures, investigations, and asset protection processes.

• Conduct security profiling, screening, and verification activities in accordance with approved policies and procedures.

• Contribute to the protection of high-value assets, including cash, precious metals, explosives, and other sensitive materials.

• Participate in security improvement initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness and security performance.

• Act in a higher-level tactical response capacity when required and authorised.

3. People & Teams

• Actively engage as a team member in all team processes.

4. Compliance

• Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory, legislative and permitting requirements.

Qualifications

Prescribed:

• Grade 12

• Registered with PSIRA Grade B and in good standing

• U/S 117705 – Demonstrate knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 2000 (Act No 60 of 2000) applicable to possessing a firearm

• U/S 119649 – Handle and use a handgun

• U/S 119650 – Handle and use a self-loading rifle or carbine

• U/S 119652 – Handle and use a shotgun

• U/S 123511 – Handle and use a self-loading rifle or carbine for business purposes

• U/S 123514 – Handle and use a shotgun for business purposes

• U/S 123515 – Handle and use a handgun for business purposes

Desirable:

• U/S 119651 – Handle and use a manually operated rifle or carbine

• U/S 123519 – Handle and use a manually operated rifle or carbine for business purposes

• U/S 123510 – Apply tactical knowledge in the use of firearms

• U/S 123512 – Demonstrate tactical proficiency with a shotgun

• U/S 123513 – Demonstrate tactical proficiency with a handgun

• U/S 123518 – Demonstrate tactical proficiency with a self-loading rifle or carbine

Certifications:

• Valid EB/Code 08 driver’s licence (any divers license of a higher code will be advantageous)

• Valid PSIRA registration

Experience:

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in security or equivalent environment of which 1 year should be in a response and tactical environment.

Technical knowledge required for role:

• Knowledge of Protection Services policies, procedures, and security standards.

• Knowledge of security legislation, including the Firearms Control Act and Criminal Procedure Act.

• Knowledge of tactical response, armed intervention, VIP protection, and Counter Industrial Action (CIA) procedures.

• Knowledge of security risk assessment, asset protection, and threat management principles.

• Knowledge of criminal investigations, evidence handling, and incident reporting.

• Knowledge of access control, surveillance systems, security equipment, and communication systems.

• Knowledge of health, safety, and emergency response requirements within a mining environment.

• Computer literacy and ability to use security and reporting systems.

Technical Skills:

• Incident investigation, statement taking, and report writing.

• Effective verbal and written communication in English.

• Crime scene preservation and evidence management.

• Presentation of evidence in legal and disciplinary proceedings.

• Tactical response and emergency incident handling.

•Relationship building and stakeholder engagement

Social Process Skills:

• Self-awareness, and of behaviours that successfully drive or hinder team performance and collaboration.

• No criminal record

• Pass polygraph test

• Psychometric Assessment for firearms

• Successfully complete the physical and mental endurance selection programme

• Medical certificate of fitness

• There could be ad hoc requirements from time to time including need to travel
