This position serves as a consultant, clinician, licensed independent practitioner, and educator within the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. This position demonstrates clinical expertise and in-depth knowledge in the care and education for neonatal conditions and problems. This position serves as an educator to nursing staff, nurse practitioner students, and patients’ families. This position also serves as a consultant to pediatric interns and neonatology fellows. This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law.

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient’s status and provide care as described in the department’s policies and procedures manual.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
Preferred
Master’s degree in Nursing with emphasis in neonatal practitioner/clinical specialty or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
Candidates who are nearing completion of required licensure or are actively obtaining Utah licensure are encouraged to apply. Graduating applicants must be eligible for licensure and obtain all required credentials prior to the start date. Candidates licensed in another state must be in the process of securing Utah licensure and must complete all Utah required licenses and certifications before the start date.
