Job Description

Provider Relations is responsible for provider relationship management and the performance of high-quality, cost-effective, and competitive provider networks across multiple lines of business to support the retention and growth of Delta Dental’s business.

The Provider Network Ambassador serves as a trusted representative of Delta Dental within the provider community, helping create a best-in-class provider experience. This role is responsible for cultivating strong provider relationships, supporting network stability and performance, and partnering with providers and dental office staff to ensure exceptional service to our enrollees.

This position requires strong relationship management skills, a consultative mindset, self-motivation, and the ability to bring enthusiasm, passion, and energy to every interaction. The role encompasses a broad range of provider relations activities and service interactions with provider partners nationwide while collaborating closely with internal business partners across the enterprise.

  • Provide consultative support to network providers to promote business efficiency and success through digital tools, online resources, and value-added services
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with providers and dental office staff to enhance the overall provider experience and position Delta Dental as the preferred and trusted partner in the market
  • Support provider network growth, size, and stability by reducing provider turnover while maintaining high-quality, cost-effective, and competitive networks
  • Partner closely with Network Development and Sales teams to support client growth and provider engagement initiatives
  • Conduct provider outreach, education, training, and on-site dental office reviews to ensure provider compliance with regulatory, contractual, and operational requirements
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to monitor provider performance against contractual obligations and conduct follow-up activities to achieve compliance
  • Conduct virtual and in-person meetings with key regional and local provider partners across the assigned territory
  • Monitor provider utilization patterns, interpret operational statistics, and recommend practice management tools and solutions to support effective plan administration
  • Facilitate provider issue resolution and serve as a liaison between providers and internal departments
  • Assess network appointment availability through service calls and verify reported appointment access standards
  • Represent Delta Dental at local dental societies, dental associations, and community or industry events as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience; additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 2+ years of dental managed care or related healthcare experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of front office dental administration and/or back office dental assisting experience preferred
  • Location Requirement:Candidates must reside within the designated South Florida travel territory. Preferred locations include:
    • Broward County
    • Miami-Dade County
    • Palm Beach County
  • Demonstrated experience in provider network management, customer service, and/or account management
  • Demonstrates curiosity and a desire to gain understanding of business practices and related topics
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to clearly present information and findings
  • Excellent organizational, time management, prioritization, and project management skills
  • Ability to successfully apply Professional Selling Skills (PSS) principles
  • Ability to interpret and analyze various forms of information, including provider and marketplace perceptions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interface with employees at all organizational levels
  • Knowledge of Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes and dental nomenclature preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and active listening skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • Knowledge of dental and general insurance procedures preferred
  • Ability to travel by car and air throughout the assigned territory and sustain company expenses for up to one month, if needed. Travel can be up to 70%
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external business partners
  • Ability to obtain and maintain sufficient credit eligibility to manage business-related expenses, including qualification for a corporate charge card
  • Must be able to operate and maintain a personal vehicle in a safe, reliable, and responsible manner for company business
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to maintain an acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driving record and purchase and maintain collision damage liability insurance coverage for the vehicle used in connection with the company auto allowance program


Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental’s assessment of the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications, and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 18. $57,450 - $120,200.
