Lead the end-to-end engineering readiness for Prototype Build (Non-EE scope) by:
- Developing Build of Process (BoP) / Assembly Flow Diagram (AFD).
- Creating Manufacturing Work Instructions (WI) for shopfloor execution.
- Providing CATIA-based CAD support for:
Virtual Build validation.
Fabrication drawings and installation layouts.
- Prototype Quality Planning & Control.
Ensure all engineering deliverables enable right-first-time prototype build execution.
1. Build Process & Quality Planning
- Develop and own BoP / AFD integrated with quality control points
- Define:
Assembly sequence & station logic
Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) checkpoints
Inspection and verification steps
- Identify build & quality risks (DFMEA/PFMEA inputs) and drive mitigation
2. Manufacturing Readiness & Work Instructions
- Create Work Instructions (WI) with embedded quality requirements:
Torque specs, tolerances, key characteristics
Visual aids and inspection criteria
Error-proofing (Poka-Yoke where applicable)
- Ensure WI usability and compliance on shopfloor
3. CAD & Virtual Build (CATIA)
- Lead 3D CAD and DMU validation for:
Clash-free assembly
Accessibility & serviceability
Tolerance stack-up awareness (basic)
- Deliver 2D fabrication drawings with:
GD&T definition
Key control dimensions
- Ensure CAD supports both build feasibility and quality control
4. Prototype Quality Engineering
- Define and implement prototype quality control plan, including:
Incoming / in-process / final inspection points
Measurement & validation methods
- Lead:
Build quality checks and audits during assembly
Defect identification, containment, and root cause analysis
- Establish and track:
Defect logs, punch lists, and build issues (JIRA or equivalent)
- Drive:
Corrective & preventive actions (CAPA)
Feedback loop to Design and Engineering
5. Prototype Build Execution Support
- Act as single-point engineering & quality owner during build
- Resolve:
Fitment issues
Quality defects
Assembly inefficiencies
- Update BoP, WI, and CAD based on lessons learned
6. Cross-functional Integration
- Align Design, Vehicle Architecture, Build, Manufacturing, and Quality
- Ensure:
Design intent â manufacturable â quality-assured execution
- Drive closure of cross-functional issues with clear ownership"
Execute additional tasks assigned by management aligned with Prototype Build and R&D priorities.
