Job Title: Legal Victim Advocate Department: Prosecutor’s Office
Reports To: Senior Prosecutor Hours: 40 Hrs/Wk – Full Time

Advocates for victim needs throughout prosecution, serving as a liaison between victims of crimes and the court system. Networks with all Tribal Departments and other local or state services to stabilize victims. Provides emergency support for victims and/or secondary victims.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in a related field and a minimum of three years of experience in a Domestic Violence and/or Social Service field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive knowledge and experience in a crisis intervention, counseling techniques, criminal justice system, domestic violence advocacy and assessment of safety needs. Experience and knowledge using word processing and spreadsheets (i.e. Word for Windows, Excel etc.).
Language Skills
Ability to conduct in-person or phone interviews to obtain and convey relevant information from and to persons in crisis. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
License and Certificates
Must have a valid and unrestricted Washington State Driver’s License. Driver’s License must not contain any restrictions that would otherwise prevent an employee from driving a GSA vehicle.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to be culturally sensitive in a diverse community.
Must submit to and be able to pass a criminal background check prior to employment and periodically throughout employment.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Required to respond outside of normal business hours.
