This position will serve as a Property Specialist in the area of incorrect and omitted property under Michigan Compiled Laws (MCL) 211.154 advising on complex and critical assessment administration matters statewide on behalf of the Department of Treasury to local unit officials and taxpayers. This position performs highly complex reviews and analyses of Michigan Compiled Laws (MCL) 211.154 petitions, amended requests, record cards, personal property statements, audit papers and any other supporting documentation to determine whether legal requirements are met. This position reviews and evaluates taxpayer reports and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with Public Act 410 of 2012. Serves as technical advisor to taxpayers, agents, and local officials and develops and monitors procedures, State Tax Commission orders guidelines and policies that are the foundation of the Michigan Compiled Laws (MCL) 211.154 program. Assists in providing assessment administration support for the Property Services Division.

Examples of duties

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Note: Experience is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree.

Four years of experience equivalent to a Property Analyst, including two years equivalent to a Property Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to a Property Analyst 12.

Qualifications

Minimum requirement of certification as a Michigan Certified Assessing Officer (MCAO).

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan To perform the duties and responsibilities of this position, all work must be performed in Michigan. If you currently reside outside of the State of Michigan, you must commute to Michigan to perform the responsibilities and duties of this position at your official work location.

Hybrid Remote WorkThis position is eligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and must work onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays. To perform the duties and responsibilities of this position, all work must be performed in Michigan. If you are a State of Michigan resident, this position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule. Additionally, the selected candidate must have a secure, safe and appropriate designated workspace that allows privacy and prevents distractions while performing the duties of this position, as well as secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Remote work arrangements are subject to management approval and may be adjusted or discontinued at any time. Please note that remote work is not available if you reside outside of the State of Michigan.

E-Verify. The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
