Towson University fosters a climate that is grounded in respect to cultivating the intellectual and personal growth of the entire university community.The Property Records Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing tasks related to the University’s property records to include planning, analyzing and implementing the policies, systems and accounting methods necessary to oversee the proper recordation of acquisitions, disposals and transfer of property and equipment (PP&E), and for maintaining the integrity of the departments’ property records. This position also involves planning, coordinating and conducting physical inventories and responding to requests from auditors in fixed asset-related matters. This position also ensures compliance with University and USM policies and provides support and guidance to student employees and inventory coordinators. Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.
Planning, coordinating and conducting the biennial physical inventory / audit cycle for capital and sensitive assets.Identifying new capital and sensitive property acquisitions typically through review of invoices, departmental requests and Procard expenses. Tagging and recording new capital and sensitive property acquisitions in a timely manner, updating asset records for transfers, disposals and corrections and ensuring compliance with institutional and USM regulations.Reviewing month-end activity to ensure accuracy prior to closing of the fixed asset Stratus module.Maintaining departmental policies and procedures manual (web page) and internal procedures manuals.Administering property records training semiannually with inventory coordinators. Performing other related duties as assigned or required.
Minimum qualifications:Bachelors degree.Two years experience in administrative staff work.Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience, and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.Skilled in planning, coordinating and completing multiple tasks timely and accurately, to include resolving any discrepancies successfully.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to establish and maintain effective work relationships.Ability to interpret and apply departmental policies and procedures, operate manual and automated office equipment such as personal computers and related software.Ability to perform mathematical computations, compose correspondence and prepare reports.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).Self motivated and with a willingness to learn.Preferred Qualifications:Experience using enterprise wide systems including Stratus and Assetworks.Knowledge of best practices in inventory management and property records operation.
Salary and Benefits $48,138-$50,000 annually and full University benefits that includes annual leave, up to 17 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission. Applicants with TU or USM service may receive salary credit. When applicable, a 2.5% increase may be added to the annual salary, pending successful completion of the initial six-month probationary period, for this position.
