We are seeking a p ermanent, full–time (37.5 hours per week) Property Maintenance Assistant to assist in the basic maintenance of campus grounds & facilities and support our students in the Design, Art & Technology faculty. This position is due to commence late April but the start date will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Basic maintenance tasks and repairs in respect of buildings and school equipment.
• Regular inspections of all buildings to record maintenance, hygiene and safety issues, and ensure any such maintenance is undertaken etc.
• Ensure that school grounds and car park areas are tidy and litter free.
• Supervise and liaise with contractors to ensure that grounds and sports fields are maintained.
• Occasional assistance with cleaning when emergencies arise
• Ensure that the footpaths, covered walkways and building exterior are kept clean
• Campus security and security procedures, including security staff, keys, alarm system, gates etc.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Strong general maintenance skills, including basic repairs to buildings, grounds, and school equipment.
• Ability to conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance, safety, and hygiene issues.
• Commitment to maintaining clean and tidy grounds, car parks, footpaths, and external walkways.
• Experience supervising and liaising with contractors, especially for grounds and sports field maintenance.
• Willingness to provide cleaning support during emergencies or urgent situations.
• Knowledge of WHS requirements and ability to follow safety procedures.
• Experience with campus security processes, including key management, alarms, gates, and working with security staff.
• Reliable, proactive, physically capable, and able to communicate effectively with staff and contractors.
• Hold a current NZ Drivers Licence
