Job Description

A private family in Coconut Grove, Miami is seeking an experienced, hands-on, and dependable Property Caretaker / Houseman to maintain and oversee their primary residence.

The property sits on approximately 0.85 acre and includes a five-bedroom, six-bath home, landscaped grounds, pool, barbecue area, cinema, and outdoor entertaining areas.

The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, comfortable working indoors and outdoors, and able to handle routine maintenance while knowing when to bring in a qualified contractor.

Schedule - Monday to Friday

Flexibility is required for additional hours, occasional weekends, family entertaining, property projects, and urgent household matters when needed.

Responsibilities

Property & Grounds Maintenance

• Conduct regular interior and exterior walkthroughs to ensure the home and grounds are well maintained and operating properly.
• Identify maintenance concerns, perform light handyman repairs, and coordinate professional service when needed.
• Check lighting, fixtures, doors, gates, HVAC filters, plumbing, electrical, pool, irrigation, and other household systems for basic functionality.
• Coordinate and supervise contractors, landscapers, gardeners, pool service providers, and other vendors; monitor work and follow through on repairs and projects.
• Maintain outdoor areas, including walkways, patios, pool, barbecue area, furniture, equipment, and storage spaces.
• Perform pressure washing, window cleaning, light gardening between landscaper visits, and other heavier cleaning or exterior maintenance as needed.
• Prepare outdoor areas for family entertaining and assist with setup and cleanup.
• Keep garages, utility areas, tools, and household equipment organized.
• Handle trash and recycling.

Household Support, Vehicles & Errands

• Clean and maintain the family vehicles.
• Run household errands, grocery shop, and pick up household or maintenance supplies.
• Receive packages and assist with bulky or heavy deliveries.
• Work cooperatively with the housekeepers and assist with heavy-duty cleaning, moving items, and special household projects when needed.
• Assist with the family dog, including feeding and general care.
• Be available to assist with urgent household or property matters when needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Property Caretaker, Houseman, Handyman, Estate Caretaker, or similar private household role.
• Strong hands-on maintenance and basic troubleshooting skills.
• Working knowledge of residential systems, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, pool, and irrigation.
• Ability to determine when a professional contractor or licensed trade is required.
• Experience supervising vendors and contractors.
• Comfortable with physical work, outdoor maintenance, pressure washing, light gardening, and heavy-duty cleaning.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Proactive, dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
• Flexible, professional, discreet, and respectful of the family’s privacy and confidentiality.

Compensation

$95,000–$110,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
