  • Monitor treaty/facultative reinsurance requirements and ensure placements comply with binding authority agreements and carrier guidelines.
  • Partner with actuarial, catastrophe modeling, claims, and reinsurance teams to inform pricing, portfolio management, and risk selection.
  • Maintain accurate underwriting files, documentation, and compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and capacity conditions across the primary and excess property markets.
  • Participate in carrier and reinsurance partner audits and stewardship meetings.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3+ years of commercial property underwriting experience, with direct exposure to both primary and excess layers.
  • Strong understanding of property insurance principles, including COPE analysis, CAT modeling, and layered/tower placement structures.
  • Experience underwriting complex, large-account, or catastrophe-exposed property risks.
  • Proficiency with catastrophe modeling software (RMS, AIR/Verisk Touchstone, or similar) and rating/pricing tools.
