Benara Nurseries is one of Australia’s largest wholesale production nurseries, located on a 147-hectare site in Western Australia. Established in 1963, we are a family-owned company, now with four generations actively involved in the nursery. Combined, the owners have over 300 years of experience in producing plants for the horticultural industry.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Propagation Administration role is located at our Head Office in Carabooda, this offered as a Full-Time Permanent position.

Working closely with the Propagation Manager and Supervisors, the Propagation Administrator will gain exposure to both the administrative and practical sides of plant propagation, contributing directly to the production of quality nursery stock.

Key Responsibilities in this role will include:

Administration & Data Entry

  • Record daily propagation, batching and tubing information and prepare batch stickers.
  • Maintain accurate records, paperwork and plant location information.
  • Place orders and follow up documentation as required.
  • Support communication between the three propagation teams and the Propagation Manager.
  • Checking stock and assist with monthly ALCOA inspections and reporting.
  • Record findings and update Excel spreadsheets.
  • Assist with compiling reports and providing accurate information to the Propagation Manager.
  • Prepare plants for discussion at weekly production meetings.
  • Preparation of stock for cuttings and transplant propagated stock.
  • Move stock between work areas and shade houses and place signs into tube stock.
  • Receive and check incoming stock and report any quality-control issues.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Propagation Administration position is located at our Head Office in Carabooda and require someone to have:

  • Demonstrated experience in administration with experience, and / or interest in horticulture.
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to assist with general nursery duties.

Essential

  • Knowledge of plant identification, pests and diseases, and plant nutrition.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate data-entry skills.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work effectively across multiple teams.

Desirable

  • Horticulture Certification level 2 or above and/or previous experience in the industry.
