Job Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Repair of plant equipment and property
  • Maintain plant equipment and property
  • Maintenance Project work
  • Attend daily start up and pass down meetings.
  • Work with Maintenance Manager on equipment update and Projects
  • Any other work assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must fulfill all the requirements of a Maintenance “A” and Maintenance “Journeyman”
  • Production comes first, must be able to balance downtime with project work
  • Must be able to work with the Maintenance Manager on equipment updates, concepts and projects
  • Able to work on projects from concept, design, material list/ordering and implementation.
  • Must be able to document the project when needed (electrical, layout, operation, etc..)
  • Must be willing to work off hours and days to complete projects if needed or to meet timeline
  • Must be able to build electrical panels based off concepts agreed upon with maintenance manager
  • Must understand electrical drawings, ladder programming, and the correlation between them
  • Must understand electrical components (switches, photo eyes, proximity switches, NPN, PNP, NC, NO, sinking, sourcing, digital and analog)
  • Must be able to work with Vendors and Contractors
  • Must answer every call every time when working on something else or even on break and not wait for another mechanic to answer. The intent is not necessarily that every mechanic needs to handle every call but is more to make sure Management and the other mechanics know to prioritize duties for efficiency’s sake. Management needs to be able to redirect a mechanic to higher priority calls if needed without wondering what the other mechanics are doing. Management must know what every mechanic is doing and getting feedback from all from the radio calls is a good tool to do so.
  • Must take a leadership role in pass down/wrap meetings. Must be able to communicate well with Management and other mechanics. Must do paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Must work well without supervision; take on needed duties without being told.
  • Must be willing to help train new mechanics.
  • Management has final say as to whether a Mechanic is qualified to be a Project Specialist based on the above criteria.
  • Management reserves right to hire a new Project Specialist mechanic at Project Specialist pay if Management determines new hire has the potential to be able to do all the above within 6 months of hire date. Potential Project Specialist must have outstanding previous experience or a degree in Industrial Maintenance or similar field. If at any time during the first 6 months of employment, Management determines that mechanic does not/cannot meet the qualifications above, Management reserves the right to offer mechanic a lower grade position or employee can bid on an open position in the plant or claim a general production position.
  • Ability to do assigned work efficiently and independently
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Any additional duties assigned.
