About the Role:

We're looking for a Projects Engineer Coordinator to lead the execution of strategic capital investment (CapEx) projects across our Chocolate Business facilities in Brazil and Chile. Reporting to the Regional Senior Engineering Manager, this role will be responsible for transforming business needs into high-performing industrial solutions by managing projects from concept and feasibility through commissioning and start-up. The position plays a critical role in connecting regional engineering strategy with operational execution while ensuring safety, quality, budget, and timeline commitments are achieved.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead and deliver medium to large-scale CapEx projects and site improvement initiatives across multiple manufacturing locations.
  • Manage project execution throughout the entire lifecycle, including feasibility studies, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and ramp-up.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors, engineering consultancies, suppliers, and internal project resources.
  • Ensure compliance with Barry Callebaut engineering standards, governance processes, food safety requirements, and HSE regulations.
  • Manage project budgets, monitor cost performance, and support long-term capital planning.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Technical Sourcing teams on vendor selection, technical specifications, and contract negotiations.
  • Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and drive effective change management practices.
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration between Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, R&D, and Engineering teams.

Scope:

  • Geographical responsibility across Extrema, Brazil and Paine, Chile.
  • Support the Chocolate Business Unit through capital investments and infrastructure improvements.
  • Manage multi-site project portfolios including production line expansions, automation initiatives, utilities improvements, and facility optimization projects.
  • Influence project outcomes through indirect leadership of project teams, contractors, and external partners.

About You:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of project engineering and project management experience within manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience delivering CapEx projects from concept through start-up.
  • Experience within Food & Beverage, FMCG, consumer goods, chemical processing, or related industries.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working across multiple sites or in regional/cross-border environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management tools such as MS Project or Primavera.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Fluent English is required; Spanish proficiency is highly desirable; Portuguese fluency is essential.
  • PMP certification or experience with FEL methodologies is considered an advantage.
  • Adaptable, hands-on, and capable of driving results in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
