About the role

The Project/Programme Manager executes and coordinates a range of complex workstreams in the planning, execution and delivery of complex transformation programme and project(s) through all programmatic phases. These programmes are complex in alignment with BT International strategies and external customer contractual requirements. Partners with BT Group and executive stakeholders within a single or across multiple business units

What you will be doing (Role Accountabilities)

  • Deliver end‑to‑end programmes and projects that realise commercial benefit, on time, on budget, and to agreed quality standards.
  • Own and run effective programme governance, with clear reporting to MD/Director level and call out escalation where applicable to the relevant audience using statistical data / MIS such as “earn vs burn” “critical path performance” and “business value realisation”
  • Actively manage risks, issues, dependencies and change, escalating early and intervening where required.
  • Lead and advise on complex, cross‑functional programmes with global impact, driving analysis, recommendations and execution.
  • Own robust plans, finances, progress tracking and assurance in line with BT Group and BT International policies.
  • Provide clear, timely performance reporting and decision papers to enable effective stakeholder decision‑making.
  • Deliver smaller or less complex projects end‑to‑end, agreeing scope, approach, communications and success measures.
  • Champion best practice in programme and project management (Agile, Waterfall, Scaled Execution) and continuously improve capability.
  • Mentor and support other PMs, acting as a technical and professional role model.
  • Influence and collaborate across BT International and partner organisations to deliver strategy.
  • Ensure external supplier contracts, commercial obligations and interdependencies are actively managed within programme governance.

  • Deliver programmes and projects end to end, on time, on budget, and to agreed quality, delivering clear commercial value.
  • Can act independently with confidence to deliver large, strategic transformational change
  • Set up and run programme governance with clear reporting to senior leaders and delivery teams.
  • Can challenge the status quo, streamline processes and practices to enable outcomes smarter
  • Manage risks, issues, dependencies and change, escalating and resolving early.
  • Lead complex, cross‑functional programmes from design through to implementation.
  • Own plans, budgets, progress tracking and assurance in line with BT policies.
  • Provide clear, timely updates and decision support to stakeholders.
  • Deliver smaller projects independently, agreeing scope, approach and success measures.
  • Promote and apply best practice in project and programme delivery (Agile, Waterfall, Scaled).
  • Coach and mentor other programme & project managers.
  • Collaborate and influence across BT and partners to deliver strategy.
  • Manage supplier obligations, contracts and commercial risk within programme governance
