Job Description

The Project/Event Coordinator serves as a key member of the Department of Integrative Biology's administrative team and is responsible for coordinating departmental events, managing special projects, and supporting strategic operational initiatives. This position plans and executes a wide range of departmental events, including seminars, conferences, retreats, award ceremonies, recruitment events, and community engagement programs. The coordinator works closely with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to ensure successful project implementation and event delivery.

In addition to event management responsibilities, the position provides project coordination and administrative support for departmental initiatives, including data collection, benchmarking, trend analyses, process improvement efforts, and special assignments that support departmental priorities. The coordinator develops and maintains project timelines, tracks deliverables, coordinates communications among stakeholders, and supports leadership through research, reporting, and organizational planning. This position plays a critical role in enhancing operational efficiency, fostering stakeholder engagement, and advancing the department's strategic goals.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which would normally be acquired in a four year college degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business or in an area related to the work being performed; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible and expansive work experience in a field related to the position including planning and managing special events; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Will require experience in word processing, database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing and/or presentation software.
