Annual Salary Range: CAD $55,000 - $60,000

Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials team in Toronto OR Mississauga, ON. The role reports to the Team Leader. This backfill position reports to the Team Leader and gives you the chance to step into an established role with room to learn and grow while working on meaningful projects.

As part of this position, you’ll play a key role in promoting safety and well-being. Your responsibilities include monitoring workplace conditions, performing exposure assessments, and supporting safety audits. You’ll also contribute to health and hygiene documentation, prepare detailed reports, and work closely with clients to meet their objectives.

Your Role and Action

  • Conduct site investigations – asbestos, mould, mercury, PCBs, lead etc.
  • Collect and interpret various building material samples
  • Conduct field work, including visits to sites and supervise remediation activities
  • Coordinate and supervise sub-contractors
  • Interpret and analyze sample results in relation to legislative requirements and industry-accepted guidelines
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and providing recommendations to address hazardous building material concerns
  • Inspect abatement contractors undertaking mould, asbestos and other hazardous materials remediation work to document that the work has been properly completed
  • Collect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samples
  • Manage time of projects effectively and efficiently
  • Liaise with clients and sub-contractors to ensure health, safety and hygiene needs are addressed and met
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships
  • Maintain and enhance quality control within the group

  • College diploma in Environmental, Construction or Architectural Technology, or Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Engineering or equivalent
  • Familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Self-directed and mature
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and a personal vehicle required
  • Availability to travel to clients’ sites (short-term work-related travel)
  • Availability to work outside of core business hours and on occasional weekends
  • Valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle. Work-related travel is compensated.
