Overview

Qnity is seeking a Project Team Leader in Newark, DE to manage capital projects ranging from $200,000 to $8 million, overseeing multiple projects with support from business engineering teams and design contractors. Responsibilities include evaluating non-capital alternatives, managing project resources, schedules, budgets, and scope changes, ensuring communication and alignment within project teams, and leading gatekeeping reviews and project economics validation. The role requires strong leadership, understanding of manufacturing processes, conflict resolution, communication skills, and experience managing third-party contractors and geographically dispersed teams, with travel as needed for project management activities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all non-capital alternatives to capital expenditure are evaluated

  • Accountable to the business for project success

  • Use Business Objective Letter (BOL) or charter to reach management consensus

  • Accountable for acquiring and releasing all project resources

  • Establish effective communications within the Integrated Project Team to insure alignment on objectives

  • Direct development of Roles & Responsibilities for the project and project RACI diagrams

  • Manage overall project expenditures and schedule to satisfy business objectives

  • Set Project Leadership Team (PLT) overall direction and expectations

  • Accountable for managing changes to project scope, schedule and budget

  • Accountable for overall integrated project schedule

  • Accountable for total project cost and investment

  • Provide primary interface between the PLT and the Business Unit Steering Team

  • Drive capital project work processes and practices per Project methodologies such as GPS and MPP

  • Direct all Gatekeeping reviews and ensure all project deliverables are met

  • Direct development and validation of project economics

Strong leadership skills

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing technology/processes, plant operations, and maintenance strategies

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

  • Conflict resolution skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Understanding of functions and disciplines required for capital project execution

  • Overall understanding of project process from front end loading (planning) through commissioning and startup

  • Understanding of capital and non-capital funding practices, appropriation rules, and project control techniques

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience working in manufacturing, construction or engineering design strongly preferred

  • Experience managing 3rd party contractors / suppliers

  • Prior experience working as a project PTL or construction manager

  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams.

Other Job Considerations

Travel as needed to manage project scope. This can include design reviews at off-site locations, vendor meetings or shop visits, tours of sister sites/processes, contractor selection and/or bid meetings, and other travel as dictated by project needs
