Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Brentwood to assist with the appointment of a Project Systems Accountant, on a 6.5-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £34.00 - £39.00 per hour

We're looking for a Project Systems Accountant to lead financial systems projects, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Council. You'll play a key role in managing and developing corporate financial management systems, supporting finance transformation projects, and working closely with Finance and ICT teams to deliver efficient, compliant, and high-quality financial services.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead financial systems projects, upgrades, and implementations.
  • Manage and develop the Council's corporate financial management systems.
  • Support finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Configure, maintain, and monitor financial and procurement systems.
  • Manage system security, user access, testing, training, and documentation.
  • Support budgeting, budgetary control, financial reporting, reconciliations, and year-end processes.
  • Work closely with Finance, ICT, software suppliers, and external stakeholders to resolve system issues and deliver improvements.

Qualifications:

  • AAT qualified, part-qualified, or fully qualified accountant.

Essentials:

  • Experience working within a Local Government finance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, budgetary control, and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing finance systems, upgrades, implementations, or finance transformation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate financial management systems.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and MS Office skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Finance and ICT teams.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires a Basic DBS
