Job Description

The Project Specialist in Finance Quality Assurance is responsible for assisting with the identification, development, implementation and coordination of programs to improve financial work practices, processes, compliance, controls and management of emerging risks. The Project Specialist provides independent assurance that Finances procedures, specifications, controls and processes are appropriate and optimal to ensure excellence in the financial work that the organization performs. The Project Specialist will support quality assurance reviews and assessments to improve work practices, processes and controls. This will also involve review of historical trends and the support of the implementation of process improvements and identified corrective actions. The Quality Management program will help ensure compliance with Company procedures, specifications, controls, GAPs, and Federal, State and local requirements. The Project Specialist will help develop and monitor key performance and risk indicators that will assist Finance with defining and measuring progress towards organizational goals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute quality assurance reviews and assessments to improve work practices, processes and controls and ensure compliance with Company procedures, specifications, controls, GAPs, as well as Federal, State, and local requirements.
  • Review the integrity of the Finance organizations controls with respect to accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and adherence to both internal and external policies.
  • Prepare clear and well-supported reporting associated with compliance reviews. Track corrective and follow-up actions generated from reviews and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with other CEI quality assurance groups to develop and expand Finances quality assurance efforts to best in class while limiting redundancy of quality assurance oversight.
  • Prepare internal reports that measure Finances organizational compliance performance.
  • Collect data from quality assurance reviews to share with the organization. Perform trend analyses to determine areas of focus for future efforts.
  • Contribute to an inclusive work environment that fosters leadership, professionalism, honesty, concern, excellence, and teamwork.
  • Participate in collaboration sessions, peer reviews, operational self-assessments and QA focused training.
  • Support the implementation of process improvements based on reviews performed by the QA team and various audit teams.
  • Remain current on relevant regulatory oversight, internal policy updates and procedural changes that may require QA support or intervention.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting, engineering, the sciences, economics, finance, or business and 3 years of related work experience or
  • Master's Degree Accounting, engineering, the sciences, economics, finance, or business and 2 years of related work experience

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree Accounting, engineering, the sciences, economics, finance, or business and 2 years of related work experience

Relevant Work Experience

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience, required.
  • Experience and understanding of corrective action development and root cause analysis, preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, required.
  • Process oriented with proven ability to develop and implement innovative process improvement initiatives, required.
  • Computer literacy required with strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products, required.
  • Experience within a formal quality assurance, accounting or auditing environment, required.
  • Ability to present information and successfully convey a point of view in a clear and concise fashion, required.
  • Experience collaborating and engaging with large and diverse group of stakeholders, required.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Driver's License Required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Preferred
  • Other: CFE Preferred
  • Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS) CIA Preferred

Additional Physical Demands

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel as needed.
  • Must be able to provide off hours support as required.
