Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Import/Export Expertise: Possess comprehensive knowledge of Japan's import/export operations, regulations, and compliance with both domestic and international supply chain laws.
  • Leadership in Site Operations: Direct and oversee site operations to ensure that service agreements meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Client Relationship Management: Provide exceptional client service through effective communication, timely follow-ups, and addressing outstanding matters in collaboration with global colleagues.
  • Strategic Planning and Coordination: Plan and monitor daily schedules to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
  • White Glove Logistics Execution: Lead field operations in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring premium handling of sensitive shipments, including managing travel and non-standard hours.
  • Site Surveys & Pricing: Conduct detailed site surveys to support accurate pricing for operational and sales inquiries.
  • SOP Development and Training: Develop, maintain, and communicate SOPs to teams, ensuring adherence to and proficiency in logistics processes through training.
  • High-Value Asset Handling: Manage the safe pickup, unloading, transportation, and drop-off of server racks and similar equipment, ensuring secure handling throughout the process.
  • Freight and Documentation Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers and teams to book international ocean and air freight while managing the accompanying documentation, including Bills of Lading (BoL).
  • Vendor Collaboration: Partner with GPS suppliers to set up hardware and software, ensuring accurate shipment tracking.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a data centre is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should have some exposure to freight forwarding or logistics operations.
  • Physical Ability: Must be capable of lifting heavy equipment and operating machinery, including gates, doors, and levers.
  • Communication Skills: Proficient in both Japanese and English, with strong conversational and written skills.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage projects efficiently while ensuring compliance with industry standards and policies.
  • Business Acumen: Strong negotiation skills to secure competitive rates and services.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with GPS tracking systems and regulatory compliance tools is required.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel extensively throughout Tokyo, Chiba, and nearby areas.
