Job Description

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Drive the site migration schedule in an effective and strategic manner to ensure that the migration is completed within the schedule
  • Create pre-population of UAT document from various source documents by using SQL, Excel and exporting as XML file.
  • User and device validation
  • Compile the user and device validation spreadsheets well in advance before a site will be migrated (governed by the project plan)
  • Confirm the users and devices with the site representatives before site migration commences
  • Re-confirm users and devices 2 weeks prior to migration start date
  • Confirm which users on a device will be migrated (this happens a few days before the actual migration starts
  • Migration scheduling
  • Create the schedule per site
  • Send calendar invites to the users and manage changes
  • Send the daily schedule of users and devices to the project team (internal and external) to advise whom is being migrated on that specific day
  • User communication
  • Sending communication to the users prior to project commencing at the site, to set the user expectation
  • Send reminders to users of their migration dates, times and what will be required of them
  • Inventory control:
  • Issue new devices to the users and hand it over to the engineers for migration tasks
  • Maintain an inventory list and update it regularly of all the devices touched during the migration effort (New, current and that needs to be disposed)
  • Send the final list to Procurement for cost allocations to divisions, updates to CMDB and disposal of old devices
  • Pre-population of the UAT document
  • Onsite migration:
  • Co-ordinate and ensure that all devices are brought to the config centre prior to the daily migration start-time
  • General ad-hoc assistance during the migration:
  • Co-ordinate validation of updates to CMDB, MIM reports, AD user and device descriptions with the technical team resources
  • Call logging and management
  • Work on-site fulltime
  • Needs to travel to sites across South Africa, Botswana, Nigeria and Angola
  • Have excellent people skills, be pro-active and able to work independently
  • Able to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Administrative skills
  • Proficient in Excel 

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field required
  • Advanced experience in software development and/or business development preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively complete projects on time and within budget
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience with project scheduling, such as Tasks/Gantt charts
