Job Description

About Us

At Transgrid, we’re delivering some of Australia’s most critical energy infrastructure, supporting the transition to a cleaner, more reliable electricity network. The Hunter Transmission Project (HTP) is a key part of this transformation, strengthening the grid to unlock renewable energy generation and support future demand across NSW. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a landmark project that will shape the state’s energy future while working alongside a high-performing and collaborative team.

About the Role

In your role as Project Risk Officer, you will support delivery of hands-on risk management across the entire project scope of work, ensuring timely risk analysis, reporting, and integration with cost, schedule, and performance controls.

You will maintain the project risk register, enhancing visibility of emerging risks, driving effective mitigation planning, and supporting risk and contingency management processes to maintain delivery confidence and compliance with risk assurance and governance obligations.

Note, this position can be based in either Newcastle or Sydney.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in infrastructure delivery, ideally within power transmission, utilities, or related EPC/D&C project environments.
  • Strong understanding of project risk management frameworks (e.g. ISO 31000, PMI) and their application in large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong data management, analysis, reporting, and dashboard development skills.
  • Well‑developed organisational and communication skills, able to coordinate across multiple workstreams, contractors, and technical and commercial teams.

Reward and Recognition

We believe in providing our people with personal, professional, and social benefits so they can deliver their best work each and every day. Employees have access to a range of corporate discounts across retail, utilities, travel, and health and wellbeing, as well as novated leasing options, workplace flexibility, 20 weeks of paid parental leave, and more. Regardless of where you are in your professional journey, Transgrid powers your career by providing access to regular and ongoing training, workplace mentoring, and tertiary education. At Transgrid, you are encouraged to build a career that’s right for you.

About Transgrid

We’ve ensured the smooth operation of over 11,517 km of high-voltage transmission lines and 136 substations and switching stations across NSW and the ACT, with interconnections to QLD and VIC.

Our most crucial work is leading the transition to Australia’s clean energy future. The traditional coal system that served our country for decades is nearing the end of its life, to be replaced by wind and solar generation.

We’re making the right decisions now to prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead – a changing climate, population growth and technology innovation.

As we lead the way towards a more resilient future, we’re working closely with our customers and communities to make sure no one is left behind.

Wherever you are in NSW or the ACT, you can be confident in the reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity we transmit as we make a better power system for generations to come.
