Job Description
Responsible for obtaining and reviewing shop drawings in line with quality and specification standards and works closely with various stakeholders to ensure understanding of requirements and that materials are available and delivered in line with production schedules. This role is critical to ensuring accurate, timely project releases that directly support production efficiency, cost control, and on-time delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical / Function-Specific:
• Obtain shop drawings for review and identify any concerns. Send these to Drafting before starting material take-offs (MTO).
• Commence MTO and enter information into internal program.
• Ensure all information is accurate and up to date and distribute requirements to all internal and external stakeholders.
• Highlight gaps, errors and missing materials to minimize disruption and ensure the shop is producing products in line with standards and production schedules.
• Translate the information received and provide breakdown releases (orders to the shop).
• Communicate with clients, contractors, site personnel, installers and site supervisors to explain rationales and ensure understanding.
• Coordinate with Purchasing regarding rework and materials for ‘take offs’ and ensures these are correct in line with production requirements.
• Utilize IT equipment including BlueBeam, Autocad, Excel, and Revit.
Internal / External Customer Service:
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of service.
• Provide detailed packages to customers setting out specifications and order requirements.
• Administration: Ensure all files are saved in accordance with departmental instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Post-secondary education in Architectural Technology or similar field.
Experience
• 2+ years of work experience in project release, drafting, or manufacturing environments (preferably railings, metals, or architectural systems).
• Experience with railings is an asset.
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY EXECUTE THE ABOVE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ability to interpret shop drawings and specifications
• Experience working with ERP or production systems
• High attention to detail in fast-paced environment
• Strong cross-functional coordination skills
• Ability to use AutoCAD, Inventor, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office proficiently
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written) to perform core job duties
• Ability to multi-task and meet project deadlines
Compensation: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 annually
