The Project Quality Leader is responsible for leading and safeguard the quality performance of hydroelectricity projects by ensuring full compliance with GEV standards, procedures, and contractual customer requirements.

The Project Quality Leader plays a central role in driving quality excellence across hydroelectricity projects, working closely with the Project Manager to prevent non‑quality events and ensure every deliverable meets internal and customer expectations. This position oversees the implementation of GEV procedures, monitors compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements, and proactively identifies risks and improvement opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. By embedding quality into daily project execution, the role ensures that outcomes are delivered right‑first‑time, strengthening customer confidence and supporting the successful delivery of complex hydro projects.

Your Impact

At Project Launch:

  • Define with Project Director the strategy for Quality Assurance and Project Risk identification, translate the identified risks into mitigation plans: this can include assessing suppliers’ capabilities and discussing details of the operations with the GE workshop personnel or at site (up to 20% travel)
  • Read, understand, and analyse the Project Contract in terms of Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC). Provide the Contract QA/QC requirements to the Project Team, and support Kick-Off meetings to ensure that all Contract specific requirements are transmitted to all stakeholders (external Suppliers, internal GE workshops…).
  • Define the Project specific processes and documents as per Contract Requirements and/or to meet Customer requirements. Issue the Project Quality Plan and Inspection Test Plan and get them approved by the Customer. Ensure communication to and use by the Functions.
  • Consolidate lessons learned from previous projects to make them actionable for preventing future issues.

During Project Execution:

  • Coordinate and drive mitigation on Project risk and prevent defects to occur and to escape along the execution of the project.
  • Prepare and Coordinate quality Inspections as per ITP with Customer and Supply Chain to ensure fulfilling the quality and contract requirements; in case of customer inspection, it is expected that the Quality Leader will contribute to the preparation of the visit and participate to it (up to 20% travel)
  • Manage the Databook (project quality records) preparation and delivery, assuring compliance with customer requirements: track, submit timely & get approval by the Customer.
  • Implement, support, monitor compliance with project processes & tools, to ensure tracking of quality KPI. Monitor project process performance on periodic basis (Client Satisfaction score, escaping defects, Cost of Non-Quality) and implement/lead appropriate actions to improve results. Obtain Customer approval of Non-Conformity curative plan when relevant.
  • Support Project Director for the analysis & management of Cost of non-quality, the related claim process, curative and containment, corrective and preventive actions associated.
  • Gather, analyse, circulate feedback to the organization

Site Preparation:

  • Support Site Leader/Site Manager for the preparation of all resources needed for excellent execution at site, including training, personal qualifications, proper information, etc.

Site Execution:

  • Ensure execution as per GE requirements (valid documents, control plan)
  • Ensure quality records are done as per control plan and support coordination with 3rd party/customer
  • Perform process audits at site, including but not limited to:

Control and distribution of documents

Control of measurement and tests devices

Storage and preservation

Welding process

Painting process

Material traceability

Personal qualifications for special processes

Quality records

  • Support the preparation of documents to protect GE in case of third-party claims.
  • Ensure the execution of the process from Red Mark to As-Build documentation.
  • Support the site manager to ensure qualification of staff & maintenance of tools, (calibration, parameter recording, qualifications for measurement, welding, painting…)

What Success Looks Like in This Role

The ideal candidate is technically competent and highly organised engineering professional with solid quality or project experience, capable of ensuring rigorous compliance and driving quality excellence across complex hydro projects who:

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant working experience in quality, project management, or site operations.
  • Demonstrates practical understanding of mechanical components, workshop practices, materials, and industrial production processes such as machining and painting.
  • Fluent in both Norwegian and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Shows proven analytical ability, organisational discipline, and a strong commitment to compliance and EHS standards.
  • Skilled in problem identification and resolution, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and leadership qualities, a positive and flexible attitude and is able to influence stakeholders and guide small teams effectively.
  • Additional knowledge of electrical testing, non‑destructive testing is also considered an advantage.
