Job Purpose / Role:

As a Project Portfolio Manager for the Volkswagen Financial Services (‘VWFS’) and Allianz Joint Venture project (‘VWAZ JV’), you will play a critical role in the effective delivery of the project and its integration within Allianz Direct’s business model. You will be collaborating with stakeholders such as Business Owners, Tribe Leads, and the Executive Management Team (EMT) at Allianz Direct.

Your primary responsibility will be to manage the VWAZ JV project of Allianz Direct, both internally and externally, towards Allianz Group, ensuring strategic alignment and financial oversight.

Key responsibilities:


• Oversee the VWAZ JV project on behalf of Allianz Direct, ensuring effective cost and benefit tracking in alignment with Allianz Group objectives.
• Establish and track financial KPIs and OKRs at both project and company levels, translating them into actionable strategic objectives.
• Review business cases across all countries for financial viability and return on investment for Allianz Direct, the VWAZ JV and the Allianz Group.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive dashboards and reporting tools to provide stakeholders with regular updates on portfolio performance and strategic alignment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements that optimize resource allocation and project delivery.
• Facilitate workshops and meetings with key stakeholders to align project objectives with business strategies and ensure effective communication across all levels of the organization.
• Ensure project principles are clearly communicated to all stakeholders and calibrated as the project evolves.
• Ensure adequate control and oversight in the areas of process standardisation and effective use of platform features.
• Own the business case end to end, including an early-warning mechanism for deviations from plan.
• Manage a complex, multi-layer governance with stakeholders across global and local entities of the Allianz, Allianz Direct and VWFS Groups, ensuring effective escalation in line with the governance framework.

Qualifications/Key skills:

• Expertise in financial KPIs and business case analysis, with the ability to drive strategic decisions, optimize project outcomes and align with organizational financial goals.
• Strong quantitative skills in data analysis, financial modeling and metrics evaluation, ensuring informed decision-making and alignment with business objectives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong stakeholder management capabilities across different areas of the organization, including senior management.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, proactively driving initiatives within the area of responsibility.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into clear recommendations.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled project management tools for intelligent planning, reporting and forecasting.

Education & Experience:

• Master’s degree in business administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial steering of projects, business case analysis, or related areas.
• Proven experience in managing project portfolios within a complex organizational environment, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
• Experience in integrating AI into portfolio governance and delivery frameworks across project management.
• Proficiency in English is essential; professional proficiency in German is required.

Location & Reporting:

This position is based in Munich, Germany.
The role reports to the Chief Partnerships and Strategy Officer.
