Project Planner

The Project Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules to ensure timely and efficient execution. This role works closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and other cross‑functional teams to track progress, identify risks, and support decision-making. The Project Planner ensures alignment between project objectives, resource availability, and timeline commitments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Scheduling & Planning: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent.Define work breakdown structures (WBS), task sequences, durations, dependencies, and milestones.Coordinate with project stakeholders to gather schedule inputs and validate timeline assumptions.Integrate engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and installation activities into a cohesive master schedule.

2. Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Track project progress and update schedules regularly based on actual performance.Prepare progress reports, dashboards, and schedule variance analyses for management and clients.Identify schedule deviations and propose corrective or preventive actions.Provide forecasts for completion dates and resource loading as needed.

3. Risk & Change Management: Identify schedule risks and develop mitigation strategies.Evaluate impacts of design changes, delays, or resource constraints on the overall timeline.Maintain change logs and update schedules accordingly.Support claim preparation related to schedule extensions or disruptions (if applicable).

4. Coordination & Communication: Facilitate regular planning and progress review meetings.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure schedule alignment and transparency.Communicate schedule updates, issues, and impacts clearly to internal teams and external stakeholders.

5. Documentation & Compliance: Ensure schedules and planning documents comply with internal processes and project requirements.Maintain proper documentation of schedule baselines, revisions, progress records, and approvals.Support audits or reviews related to project planning and controls.

  • Experience in project planning, scheduling, or project controls (industry-specific experience is a plus).Proficiency in scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar).Experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects is advantageous.

Technical Skills:

Strong understanding of project management principles (WBS, critical path, resource loading, etc.).Ability to analyze schedule data and prepare insightful reports.Competency in Excel or other data analysis tools.

Soft Skills:

Strong communication and coordination skills.High attention to detail and analytical thinking.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.Team-oriented and proactive mindset.
