About the role

The Project Officer, Play Well Strategy, plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the Play Well National Participation Plan across NSW. Working within the Policy and Planning Division, you will contribute to a range of sector capability, infrastructure and accessibility initiatives, with a strong focus on projects linked to Local Government.

You will coordinate project activities, support stakeholder engagement, contribute to reporting and dashboards, and ensure project milestones are delivered on time and to a high standard. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys collaborative work, problem‑ solving and supporting community sport outcomes across NSW.

Responsibilities

• Provide project and operational support, including monitoring milestones, preparing reports and coordinating resources to meet time, cost and quality requirements.
• Coordinate Play Well engagement activities and contribute to the Sports Infrastructure Dashboard and related reporting tools.
• Undertake research and analysis to support project briefs, planning and informed decision‑ making.

About you

You are a proactive and organised project support professional who enjoys working collaboratively and engaging with diverse stakeholders. You bring knowledge of the community sport sector and an understanding of the challenges faced by local communities and councils. You have experience supporting community‑ based programs or projects, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑ paced environment. You are confident working with data, coordinating project activities and contributing to continuous improvement.

Key knowledge and experience

• Knowledge of the community sport sector, including sport infrastructure challenges faced by local communities
• Knowledge of local Government recreation functions and an understanding of how councils engage with and serve their communities
• Experience supporting the delivery of community-based programs or projects, with a focus on stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
• Knowledge of project coordination practices, including planning, reporting, and monitoring, within a government or community service context.
