
The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Project Officer for Multimodal Data Mining. This position supports the development of an end-to-end workflow for scientific literature curation, focusing on the extraction, standardization, and analysis of reaction data from published articles and supplementary materials. The role involves developing rule-based and agent-based approaches to process multimodal scientific information and improve data quality and consistency across large literature datasets.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain workflows for extracting reaction parameters from text, tables, and figures in scientific literature
Scale workflows from proof-of-concept studies to larger literature collections
Document methodologies and support reproducible data curation practices
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field
Proficiency in Python for data processing, analysis, and automation
Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to data quality and consistency
Experience with scientific data mining is advantageous
Good written communication skills for technical documentation and reporting
Ability to work independently
