About the opportunity
The Project Officer, Inclusive Toolkit leads the institution-wide review, redesign, and implementation of the University’s Inclusive Toolkit, providing academic staff with practical, evidence-based resources to support inclusive teaching, curriculum design, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and equitable assessment. Operating with a high degree of independence and professional judgement, the role delivers a strategically aligned suite of resources grounded in contemporary best practice, incorporating lived experiences of disability, legislative responsibilities, UTAS support services, and effective use of assistive technology, alongside training and guidance materials. The position requires strong initiative, analytical capability, and stakeholder engagement to drive co-design processes across the University and achieve sustainable outcomes beyond the project’s lifespan. Situated within the Student Academic Success area of the Academic Division, the role contributes to a holistic approach that supports student access, participation, transition, engagement, retention, and overall success.
What you’ll do:
- Manage the planning, design, and delivery of the Inclusive Teaching Toolkit redevelopment as a project with institution-wide impact
- Provide specialist, authoritative advice on inclusive teaching, UDL, accessibility, and reasonable adjustments to inform resource development that provides guidance on inclusive assessment practices, accessible learning materials, and inclusive learning environments.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and curate high-quality resources that translate complex pedagogy and legislation into practical application.
- Lead consultation and co-design with diverse stakeholders, including academic, professional staff, and students with lived experience.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships across organisational boundaries to influence practice and drive insitution-wide adoption of inclusive approaches.
What we’re looking for:
- Advanced knowledge of inclusive teaching, UDL, and curriculum design in higher education, with strong understanding of reasonable adjustments, inherent requirements, and legal obligations for equitable student access.
- Demonstrated experience in developing high-quality training resources and teaching materials.
- Experience in creating accessible online learning materials within Learning Management System environments.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, practical and engaging guidance.
- Proven experience managing complex projects or initiatives with institution-wide or cross-functional impact.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $130,943 comprising base salary within the range of $101,821 to $111,917 plus 17% superannuation.
